cPanel is a web-based control panel used to manage the services and files associated with a hosting account. The exact tools visible in cPanel depend on the server profile, account feature list, software enabled for the account, and the cPanel interface in use.
Meridian and Jupiter
cPanel & WHM version 138 introduced Meridian as an opt-in, goal-based alternative to the Jupiter interface. Meridian groups common tasks into six hubs: Websites, Email, Files, Databases, Security, and Performance. Jupiter remains fully supported and continues to expose the familiar category-based tool layout.
Common areas in cPanel
- Files — manage website files, FTP accounts, disk usage, Web Disk, and Git repositories when available.
- Databases — create and manage MySQL or MariaDB databases and users and open phpMyAdmin.
- Domains / Websites — manage hosted domains and website-related tools.
- Email — create mailboxes and manage mail features.
- Software — select PHP versions and edit PHP configuration when the relevant tools are enabled.
- Metrics / Performance — review errors, traffic, bandwidth, and resource information.
- Advanced tools — manage features such as cron jobs, error pages, MIME types, indexes, and Terminal when enabled.
Interface note: Many cPanel documentation paths use Jupiter-style category names. In Meridian, use the matching hub, the command palette, or Browse all commands to locate the same account-level function when it is available.
Use cPanel for hosting-account administration. Application dashboards such as WordPress have their own separate logins and settings.
