Checking PHP Compatibility and Security Support Print

Choose PHP using three checks: application compatibility, the versions offered by the account, and upstream security support.

  1. Record the website’s actual PHP version and the interpreter used by scheduled commands.
  2. Check the application, extensions, plugins, and themes against the intended version.
  3. Review PHP’s official support table. As checked on 17 September 2026, PHP 8.2 receives upstream security fixes until 31 December 2026; plan its replacement before that deadline.
  4. Test a compatible supported version on staging with a usable recovery copy.

A selector can retain older releases. Any vendor-provided extended support is a separate service whose coverage must be verified.
