Reusing Sitejet Elements with References Print

References let several locations use one originating element. Choose them for intentionally shared content, such as a recurring contact block.

Steps

  1. Select the originating element and use Create Reference, or copy it and use Paste Reference at the destination.
  2. Use ordinary paste when you need an independent duplicate. Label or organize shared elements so future editors can recognize their scope.
  3. If a referenced element cannot be edited locally, use its reference settings to Show origin element and edit the origin.
  4. Before changing the origin, inspect other places using it. Preview representative pages after the change.
  5. If one location needs independent content, use Convert reference there, then edit and check that copy separately.

Check the result

A change at the origin should appear in its references. A converted copy should remain independent when you next change the origin.

Before you continue

Treat references as shared content within the project. They are not a promise of automatic synchronization across separate websites, and converting one breaks its future shared updates.
