An Image block places a picture in content. Alternative text should convey the image's relevant meaning for someone who cannot see it.
Steps
- Insert an Image block and upload an authorized image or select one from the Media Library.
- Choose an appropriate image size and review its crop and alignment.
- Set the block's alternative text based on the image's purpose in this page. Use an empty alternative for purely decorative images when appropriate.
- Add a visible caption only when it helps readers, and check any image link destination.
- Preview and save the page, then inspect its published version.
Check the result
Confirm the image remains legible on mobile and that the alternative text describes useful information without repeating nearby text unnecessarily.
Before you continue
A caption, filename, and alternative text serve different purposes. Avoid keyword stuffing. An image inserted from an external URL can disappear if the remote owner moves or restricts it; use your own authorized upload when reliable local availability is needed.
