Troubleshooting an Embedded Video or External Post in WordPress Print

An embed displays content supplied by another service. The provider’s availability and embedding permissions remain part of the result.

Steps

  1. Open the source URL while signed out. Confirm that the content still exists and is available to the intended audience.
  2. Use the appropriate Embed block or supported provider block and paste the content’s share URL. A normal link, an account dashboard URL, and a supported embed URL are not always interchangeable.
  3. If WordPress cannot embed it, review that provider’s current embed requirements. Do not assume that every service listed in an older tutorial still allows unauthenticated embedding.
  4. If the editor preview works but the live page does not, check browser extensions, consent controls, and failed network requests. Keep HTTPS URLs; downgrading a resource to HTTP is not a suitable repair.
  5. Test the public page on mobile and provide a descriptive link to the original content when a working embed cannot be offered.

Check the result

A visitor without your provider login should be able to view the intended content or follow a useful fallback link.

Before you continue

Embedding does not copy the media into your own backup. Do not place private access tokens in page content or remove access restrictions from material that should remain private.
