Choose who should be able to read an entry before publishing it.

Steps

  1. Open the page or post and inspect its status and visibility controls. Labels differ between editors.
  2. Keep unfinished content as a draft. Choose public, private, or password protection according to the intended audience.
  3. For password protection, set a unique password and save the change.
  4. Verify the public address from a signed-out browser session.

Check the result

Public content should load for visitors; restricted content should require the expected access. Private content remains available to appropriately permitted users.

Before you continue

Page protection does not automatically protect directly linked uploads. Avoid placing confidential documents in publicly accessible media storage, and check the behavior of feeds, caches, and any plugin that republishes content.
