Posts are commonly used for news and dated updates. Their editing controls depend on the editor and permissions enabled on the site.
Steps
- Open Posts and choose Add New. Enter a descriptive title and add the body using the available blocks.
- Organize the text with headings, short paragraphs, and useful links. Add media only where it helps the reader.
- Review the post settings, including categories, featured image, URL, visibility, and publication date. Save a draft while the content is unfinished.
- Use Preview to check the page at several widths. Test links and proofread the title and body.
- Choose Publish when you have publishing permission and the post is ready. If the interface offers submission for review, use the site’s editorial workflow.
Check the result
Open the public post while signed out and check where it appears in the posts listing and category archives.
Before you continue
Publishing a post does not necessarily add it to a navigation menu. The theme and homepage settings determine how the site lists posts.
