Page titles and descriptions help describe a page to browsers and search services. They should reflect the page's actual content.
Steps
- Open More → SEO/Meta to review the website-wide defaults.
- Open Pages and the target page's settings to set its individual title and description.
- Write a distinct title and an accurate summary for each important page. Remove sample business names and placeholder text.
- Review indexing controls before launch, especially if the site was previously a draft or test project.
- Save, publish, and inspect the live page's browser title and metadata.
Check the result
Confirm the published values correspond to the correct page. Search engines may take time to revisit a site and may display their own snippets.
Before you continue
Metadata does not guarantee rankings or immediate indexing. A noindex instruction is not password protection and cannot keep confidential content private. Avoid changing established page addresses casually while adjusting titles.
Check the published indexing controls
Review both website-wide defaults and page-specific indexing choices. A robots.txt rule controls crawling and does not reliably remove an already known URL from search results. Search engines must be able to retrieve a page to see its noindex instruction. Check the actual published metadata and robots file together, and use access protection for private content.
