How to Choose a Static Homepage in WordPress Print

WordPress can display recent posts on the front page or use a selected static page. A separate page can serve as the posts index.

Steps

  1. Create and publish the intended homepage. Create a separate page for the blog index if needed.
  2. Open Settings → Reading and choose a static front page.
  3. Select the homepage and, if used, a different page for posts.
  4. Save the settings and update navigation links so visitors can find both areas.
  5. Open the main domain and blog address in a signed-out browser.

Check the result

Confirm that the root address displays the intended page and the blog shows the expected posts.

Before you continue

The homepage and posts page cannot be the same selection. A posts index is rendered by the theme and may not show the ordinary page editor content. Do not use the posts page's password setting as access protection for the blog. Themes, templates, and plugins can also affect the final layout.
