How to Use WordPress Synced Patterns Carefully Print

A synced pattern keeps shared blocks consistent wherever that pattern is used. Updating it can change several pages at once.

Steps

  1. Select the blocks to reuse, open their options menu, and choose Create pattern.
  2. Give the pattern a descriptive name and enable the synced option when all instances should remain linked.
  3. Insert the saved pattern through the block inserter on another page.
  4. Before editing an instance, decide whether the change should apply everywhere or only in that location.
  5. For a one-off variation, detach the pattern where permitted before editing. Review shared changes in the save confirmation.

Check the result

Check multiple pages using the pattern after a shared update, or confirm that a detached variation left other instances unchanged.

Before you continue

Do not place page-specific prices, dates, or names into a shared pattern without considering every location. A locked pattern may not allow detachment. Keep clear names so editors can distinguish shared content from an ordinary group of blocks.
